Our Sober Living Programs
Howard Barker handles all of the outreach and community engagement at New Beginning Recovery. He works to spread education and awareness on issues surrounding mental health and substance abuse as well as help families navigate the difficult waters of getting a loved one help. Howard has spent the past 8 years working with young adults and their families, being a support during times of crisis. Spending time in a sober living home not only allows you to meet new people and access valuable resources, but it helps prevent relapse. You have worked too hard in your recovery to take that risk, and that is why we are here to help.

Many of our partners have worked with us for several years, and all are considered part of the New Life family. Colby is a graduate of the program and has been involved with the community for over four years. He is passionate about recovery and strives for helping anyone he comes in contact with find their own passion for their recovery and their lives. He’s had experience night managing at New Life East for 6 months as well as weekend managing at East for about 9 months as well. Colby enjoys making new connections with everyone he meets, and has positive outlook on life. Sebastian has been participating in drug and alcohol treatment and recovery for over a decade, and has a passion for assisting people as they work through areas of life similar to the ones that he has struggled with.

At New Beginning Recovery Recovery Community, we have built a treatment team that inspires hope and recovery among the young men who enter our sober living homes in Los Angeles, California. In fact, some of our recovery staff are also alumni of New Life Recovery. We also partner with professionals to provide clinical services for our program participants. A New Beginning Recovery alumni, Howard went back to college and underwent CADC training in recovery. He has spoken on panels, in treatment centers, community centers, schools, with parents, students, teachers, law enforcement and mental health providers to give insight on issues that are impacting young people today. Our structured sobriety programs, compassionate staff, supportive community and decades of experience support young men and their families at every step on their path to recovery.

At our sober living homes for men in Los Angeles, we incorporate the entire family into the structured recovery process. Our family therapy programs allow families to get involved in the recovery process, as well as connect with other families to build community along the way. Steven Graduated Miracle in 2021 and has been sponsoring and showing up for the guys ever since.
He is passionate about both mindfulness and psychiatry, and seeks to blend the two. Although he primarily focuses on TMS and psychopharmacology, he is trained in various modalities of psychotherapy including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. He is a clinical instructor at UCLA, and has been selected to be on the list for Southern California Super Doctors for 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015.
When not at one of the South Bay houses, you can find Dave supporting the Stanley Cup Champions the Los Angeles Kings. If it’s football season he will be sitting at home watching the Cornhuskers. More often than not, he is often giving rides to meetings nearly every night.
